Client apps hold no state that matters; they show work kept elsewhere, so they can be closed or swapped without losing anything.

The idea

A client app should be a view. It holds nothing that matters. The work is kept elsewhere, and the app shows it.

What that buys you

• Close the app, keep the work.
• Switch devices freely. Phone, tablet and desktop show the same state.
