How it's built

Conventions

Rule changes are logged and reviewed, so each one shows who made it and why.

What it gives you

Rule changes are logged and reviewed. For each change you can see who made it and why.

How it works

  • Small changes. Each change is one logical unit with its reason and how to undo it.
  • A change log. Each change is logged, and summaries come from that log. See Scion pattern.
  • Review. The Review loop reviews the rules with two model families.

Principles

  • History that cannot be rewritten can be trusted. Mistakes are fixed with a later change, never by editing the past.
  • A conflict is a finding. When two rules disagree, it is reported instead of resolved quietly.
  • An undo that points at the wrong change is worse than none. Every undo is tried in a dry run first.
